You see a horizon line. Nothing but a fine mist of spray gives you any indication of whats below. As you approach the drop, you realize you have been here before. Its Table Saw, the Ocoees most formidable rapid. In a stable 14-foot raft, the rapid felt like a friendly roller coaster. But now youre in a responsive, one-person inflatable kayak. Instead of someone in the back yelling when and which direction to paddle, you hear only your own voice, reminding yourself that you can run this rapid. Your heart beats a little faster. After a deep breath, you take a couple of hard forward strokes, brace yourself and get one last gasp of air. Ten seconds later, youre at the bottom, disoriented and wet but upright and still in your boat. You wipe the water out of your eyes, orient yourself and
euphorically paddle to shore.
There is nothing like the rush of running a rapid by yourself the feeling of accomplishment when you have successfully navigated a tough piece of whitewater. Hey, this is what we do with our lives, and we want to share it with you.
